Adam McNicol is a film director, video editor, comedy writer and performer based in London.
Originally from Derbyshire he studied film at The University of Leicester before moving to London and working as a cinema projectionist for both Picturehouse Cinemas and Soho House. During this time he was a runner on numerous film shoots, music videos and short films and volunteered at comedy events such as the Sunday Special at Up The Creek comedy club and the Greenwich Comedy Festival . He formed the short film company Invisible Man Films in 2011 with animator Tom Rourke and together they made short comedy films for the festival circuit being selected for the London Short Film Festival four years in a row and once for the Emden Norderney international film festival .
Adam set up Brainwrap comedy in 2012. The event Brainwrap Comedy Cinema showcased his own work as well as other up and coming comedy film talent and ran for two years at The Bussey Building in Peckham and occasionally at the Star of Kings in Kings Cross. It was featured in Such Small Portions, The Evening Standard as well as Computer Arts Magazine , When you going to sort yourself Out ,The Huffington Post , Shoreditch radio and Reprezent radio.
Brainwrap has since become a production company in its own right and Adam’s films have been selected for many national and international film festivals, screening at many prestigious venues including The BFI and The ICA. He is currently putting together an international tour of the Comedy Cinema event and working on a pilot of his character and film combined Edinburgh show as well as writing numerous scripts from animations to sitcoms. Adam is also a judge for short comedy film night shortcom and is part of the London comedy film festivals kick-start alumni having attended in 2012/13/14. He is also freelance video editor working behind the scenes for many high profile clients.
